Born in Curitiba, Brazil, Eduardo Mercuri began playing the guitar at age 11. In 2009 he received his bachelor’s degree in music education from Faculdade de Artes do Paraná, where he began playing mandolin, ten-string guitar, and cavaquinho. In 2011 he released two albums, O timbre da mão and Jazz Cigano Quinteto. Mercuri graduated from Berklee College of Music, summa cum laude, with a focus on guitar performance in 2014 and is currently a graduate student at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute. Eduardo leads the Eduardo Mercuri Quintet, and his past performances include the Panama Jazz Festival, Beantown Jazz Festival, and the 2013 Latin Grammys.
