Born out of a late-night jam session at the American University of Beirut, Mashrou' Leila's name roughly translates to "Overnight Project." The first Middle Eastern artists to make the cover of Rolling Stone, they have challenged the status quo of the Middle Eastern pop industry with rousing, electro-pop anthems about political freedoms, LGBT rights, race, religion, and modern Arabic identity.
