I have loved my experience at BASE and learned SO much. I walked in with basically no Spanish and am now conversational. It was important that from the very first class we were being taught in Spanish and we were getting to know each other in Spanish. I learned so much more quickly because of that. You get into a rhythm there. The teachers are full of energy, warmth and knowledge. Regardless of your level, they make you feel comfortable speaking in Spanish, making mistakes and learning out loud. We discussed all kinds of interesting topics in class. The teachers are also very generous responding to email questions outside of class time. As a school they understand that sometimes scheduling conflicts are inevitable so they will let you make up classes you miss. It has also been wonderful meeting other people interested in learning Spanish, traveling and community building - people with interesting stories of their own. I have made friends who have increased my motivation to go back. And the location is amazing. I enthusiastically recommend BASE!

BASE is fantastic, and I've thoroughly enjoyed my weekly lessons. BASE is a very small organization, led by teachers who are passionate about what they do. I started in the summer with Básico A, and about 9 months later, am in Avanzo A, which is very similar to 2 college semesters. Even though I took a Spanish class many years ago in college, I greatly prefer my experience with BASE - the classes are smaller, the atmosphere is more conversational, and the teachers are extremely good at what they do (they clearly have been doing this for years). In addition to learning the language, I've come to understand much more about Latin American and Spanish culture and history.

I have since been recommending them to my friends and anyone interested in learning Spanish and having a great time while doing so.

So far I have taken two courses, covering 4 total levels (Basic A-C and Intermediate A). All of the teachers are friendly, attentive, and they do their best to make you feel welcome and comfortable. This school’s location is super convenient and was among the most reasonably priced options out there.

From day one I felt confident that I was in good hands. My instructor Elaine was always engaged and focused. She kept the class fresh and was consistently challenging us with homework and in-class conversation sessions. I also took a few make-ups with another teacher, Ricardo, who was equally engaged and concerned with his students' progress.

Overall, I feel I gained a lot from my time so far, going from someone with a very basic comprehension level and non-existent speaking skill, to a much more confident and capable reader, listener and speaker. While I still have a long ways to go, I am happy in particular with the confidence Bill and his team have built in my abilities!

After spending quite some time looking at language schools in Boston, my husband and I settled on BASE. From the second we got to the door, it was all Spanish, all the time! I love that the teachers push you to think and ask questions in Spanish and there's never a time when you feel like an idiot. The location is good (close to the T) and the rates are really reasonable, especially given the quality of instruction. Short of actually going to a Spanish-speaking country, this is a great way to get immersion and instruction in one. Would highly recommend for learners of any level!

BASE has what all schools should have: an incredible attitude towards learning.

Without exception, BASE's teachers create warm,  welcoming, encouraging environments that made me forget I knew nothing. 

They made me feel like I was smart and funny and able to learn language easily. How did they do that? I don't know exactly. When I find out, I'm going to bottle it and make a fortune.

I could not say enough good things about this school. Bill and the teachers are just fantastic to interact with and learn from.

Classes have a very fun vibe and you definitely focus on conversational Spanish. I promise it's something you won't regret doing.
