Starting on September 20, Cristian Roldán will be creating a mural called DIÁSPORA COLORS - DEJANDO HUELLAS to take us on a journey of rich Puerto Rican ancestry, composed by Taino and Afro-Caribbean elements that allegory to migration and the aesthetic legacy of our ancestors.
Roldán is a Puerto Rican artist and muralist based in Chicago with extensive experience creating community-based murals that represent the locals’ values. He is also the founder of Diaspora Designs with the objective of creative public artwork that preserves the collective memory, articulates relevant topics in the diaspora, and makes visible the diaspora presence through the embellishment of public spaces.
Join starting September 20 as he paints the mural and don’t miss the unveiling event on October 3rd at Plaza Betances where we will also have live music!
See you there!
