Bomba is one of Puerto Rico’s oldest music and dance traditions, created by African and Taíno people to connect, express themselves, celebrate, and even plan escapes from sugar plantations.
In this workshop, students will learn simple Bomba steps, try instruments, sing together, and explore its history.
Instructor Eli Pabón—Boston-born dancer, singer, educator, and founder of BOMBAntillana—will be joined by her first Bomba teacher, historian and musician Jorge Arce.
