Three free documentary screenings exploring art, family, cultural memory, and Puerto Rican and Latin American printmaking traditions.
Join IBA's Arts Program at La CASA for Tracing Memory Through Art, a free community film series exploring art, memory, family, and cultural heritage through the work and creative world connected to renowned Puerto Rican artist Antonio Martorell.
Presented over three Tuesday evenings, the series highlights documentary works by filmmaker Enrique Trigo Tió. Each film offers a distinct perspective on Martorell’s artistic practice, the transformation of personal and collective memory through art, and the creative communities surrounding Puerto Rican and Latin American printmaking traditions.
All screenings begin at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. Guests are welcome to attend one, two, or all three screenings.

Encajar en el Mundo
38-minute documentary
Go behind the scenes of the creation of Mundillo Nuestro, the monumental theater curtain commissioned by the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico from Antonio Martorell. The film follows the curtain’s design and fabrication by Las Borinquen Lacers de Puerto Rico using mundillo, the traditional Puerto Rican art of bobbin lace. It is a celebration of craftsmanship, collaboration, and the preservation of Puerto Rico’s textile traditions.

Álbum de Familia

An intimate look at Martorell’s Álbum de Familia, a body of work inspired by family photographs, inherited memories, and personal history. The documentary explores how private archives can be transformed through drawing and collage—and how art can preserve, reinterpret, and give new life to the stories families carry across generations.

VII Bienal de San Juan del Grabado Latinoamericano y del Caribe

A documentary record of the seventh San Juan Biennial of Latin American and Caribbean Engraving, a landmark gathering that brought together artists and printmaking traditions from Puerto Rico, Latin America, and the Caribbean. The film captures the artwork, participants, and creative exchange that made the Biennial an important meeting point for the region’s graphic arts.
