Tom Almeida was born in Tiradentes, Minas Gerais, Brazil, and began studying music at the age of seven, inspired by his deep love for jazz. A largely self-taught pianist, Almeida draws influence from iconic artists such as Thelonious Monk, Tom Jobim, Brad Mehldau, Túlio Mourão, Steven Feifke, and Bill Evans. He also finds inspiration in the work of Wynton Marsalis, Chet Baker, Christian Scott, and Roy Hargrove.
In 2020, at just 16 years old, Almeida was named one of the winners of the BDMG Young Instrumentalist Award. The recognition gave him the opportunity to study with acclaimed pianist Túlio Mourão, further enriching his musical journey and deepening his artistic voice.
In 2023, Almeida performed a solo set at the Minas em Harmonia Festival held at Sesc Palladium in Belo Horizonte. That same year, he also appeared at events such as the Wine and Jazz Festival in Brazil, and performed with Ufsjazz—the Big Band of the Federal University of São João del-Rei. Later in November, he took on the role of music producer for the Artes Vertentes 2023 Festival, an interdisciplinary arts event in Tiradentes, Brazil, that brings together renowned Brazilian and international artists.
In 2024, he was recognized as one of the standout pianists selected to perform at Berklee Keys Fest, a prestigious showcase for emerging piano talent.
